As many of you just received, Rob and I send out our Seasonal Vendor List to help you all get ready for the changing season ahead! If you haven’t gotten that, totally email me and I’ll get that over to you! But, with Winter impending on our doorstep (guaranteed snow on Halloween…) here are some Important items to check because #WinterIsComing:
Inside the House Stuff-
Furnace Tune-Up –This one is definitely top of the list! The last thing you want is for you Furnace to crap out on you during Thanksgiving Dinner.. Get this checked out, and usually HVAC companies are running specials this time of year. We have a few companies we like on our Vendor List!
Clean the Fireplace, Seal up Drafts
Have a Chimney? Cleaning out your flue is one people always forget; Also Hiring a Handyman to seal up any drafty spots around doors and windows is a really good way to keep cold air out.
Outside the House Stuff -
Yard Cleanup – Rake up all the leaves, twigs, branches. Your future self will thank you when you don’t have mushy leaves from that previous fall still hanging around that Spring. Running out of space in the trash bin? Mulch your leaves before you bag them, and usually Trash companies will take a few extra bags a week. Places like Ewing and Fort Collins Green Waste Program will take your yard waste for a pretty good value.
Blow out your Sprinklers- First historical Hard Freeze is Mid October- So get this going if you haven’t already!
Store Outdoor Furniture, Toys, Tools - Put all the soccer balls, bikes, tools, in your shed! You definitely don’t want your stuff getting wet from moisture. Plus you won’t stumble upon this stuff when you’re shoveling that first snow. We also bought some outdoor patio furniture covers if you don’t have room inside to store them. Car Related-
SwitchWindshield Wiper Fluid: The one I always forget – Switch your Windshield Wiper Fluid! I always forget.. and then suddenly remember when I’m driving through Denver and my windshield is freezing..
Car Tires: Also Make sure to check tire pressure, rotate tires as needed, or throw on some snow tires if you're feeling really snazzy.
Stock a Shovel and an emergency kit in the car as well! You never know when you may get stuck in a storm, or see someone in need !
Here are a few important things to do before you’ve settled in to Hibernation Mode of Winter. Anything else you’d add? Let me know! Also, let me know if you need our Trusty Vendor list to help you get all these items checked off!
Stay safe & cozy,-Ashleigh
